Envoy: China sees $7 bln Vladivostok-Suifenhe railroad profitable

DALIAN, China, Aug 21 (PRIME) -- China believes that construction of a U.S. $7 billion 180-kilometer high-speed railroad from Suifenhe to Russia’s Vladivostok is profitable, Yury Trutnev, deputy prime minister and presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, told reporters on Tuesday.

“The Chinese company has almost developed a feasibility study… They (Chinese company) looked at everything in detail, and on the whole they came to the conclusion that construction of the high-speed railroad is profitable… The railroad costs $7 billion, the length is 180 kilometers,” Trutnev said.

The width of a track is the main issue that has to be discussed, he added.
